Introduction

  • Designed for segment type bi-stable display and supporting color EPD applications
  • Output channel:
    · 131 segments (SEG[131:1]) for Normal segment driving
    · 1 background segment (SEG[0]) for Background segment

             · 1 common output (COM0A/COM0B) for COM signal

  • Supply voltages: 2.4V to 3.6V or 3.6V to 5.5V
    · VDD, VCI, AVCI: 2.4V to 3.6V
    · VBAT: 3.6V to 5.5V
    · VDDIO: 1.8V to VDD
  • 2-level output voltage or 3-level output voltage for Segment/Common
    · V0 = 10V to 36V with 1V step size, V1 = 1/2 V0
    · V0 = 15V, V1 = 3V to 8V with 200mV step size
  • Embedded 2 types of DC/DC charge pump to generate driving voltage
    · Traditional charge pump: support multiplier 4X, 8X and 16X
    · 15V cap-lite charge pump (total 2-3 external capacitors including the decoupling capacitor at power input)
  • New SEG-to-COM function allows any Segment output change to Common output
  • Cascade read function allows user to read any chip in the cascade chain
  • Low deep sleep current ~10nA
  • On-chip 132 x 2 bits display RAM and support RAM Ping-Pong function
  • Programmable output waveform to fit with different application or display requirement
  • MCU interface: I2C interface, 3 wire SPI interface with interface selection pin
  • Segment count can be expanded by cascade with additional SSD1627
  • Square die form factor with 69um pad pitch
  • Bare die, Gold bumped die, COF and LGA packages are available
    · SSD1627L3 with 63+1 segments, supports 2.4V to 3.6V supply voltages and single chip applications only
    · Other packages with 131+1 segments, support 2.4V to 3.6V or 3.6V to 5.5V supply voltages, and both single chip and cascade-chip applications.

131+1 Segments with Common 3-level bi-stable Display Driver with Controller

 

The SSD1627 is a bi-stable display driver IC with controller integrated. It has 131 segments, 1 background segment and 1 common output. Each segment/common can support 2-level driving and 3-level driving. The embedded DC/DC can generate all output voltages to drive the
panel. In the SSD1627, a new 15V caplite charge pump is embedded that can reduce the number of external capacitor.


The SSD1627 has programmable display waveform feature and it supports output voltage from 3.0V – 8.0V for fitting different kind of bi-stable display technologies.

  

To communicate with external MCU, there are pin selection to make the SSD1627 to support SPI or I2C interface. Moreover, the SSD1627 can cascade with additional SSD1627 by a dedicated cascade port to increase the number of segments.
