Solomon Systech Expands The MagusCoreTM Family
SSD1935 Multimedia Processor with stacked DDR memory on-chip for BOM cost reduction and fast time-to-market
(Hong Kong – 9 March 2009) Solomon Systech today introduced a multimedia processor – SSD1935, in expansion of the MagusCoreTM processor family. Succeed to the SSD1933 dual-core processor, the SSD1935 has stacked DDR memory on-chip, which will significantly lower the total bill of material (BOM) cost of a portable multimedia device by 30% and reduce the printed circuit board (PCB) layers (reduce down to 4 layers) and size. PCB assembly will be easier with its 0.8mm pitch Thin & Fine-Pitch Ball Grid Array (TFBGA) package. The development platform is on Linux, which is flexible for adding in peripherals and almost any features.
The MagusCoreTM processor family is designed to meet the growing demand for portable devices that deliver high quality audio and video experience at affordable price. The devices support a wide range of popular video codecs such as H.264, MPEG4, MPEG2 and RMVB up to D1 resolution. A comprehensive portable multimedia player reference design supporting digital TV standards like CMMB with Conditional Access and DVB-T/H is available. Ready for production schematic, layout and mechanical drawing will be provided to customers as a total solution to shorten the end product development cycle time.
The SSD1935 offers optimal multimedia performance with high level of integration for both ODMs and OEMs. Offered in a compact 15×15 TFBGA package at 0.8mm pitch, the SSD1935 is designed to enable the new generation of high performance portable consumer electronic devices at reduced cost and offer a fast time-to-market solution.
