Solomon Systech Launches SSD2091 TDDI for FHD Applications

High Performance Solution Integrating Touch and Display Functions

(Hong Kong – 3 Jun, 2016) Solomon Systech Limited (“Solomon Systech”), a leading semiconductor company specializing in the design, development and sales of proprietary display IC products and system solutions, is pleased to announce the launch of a new TDDI (Touch Display Driver IC) SSD2091 for supporting FHD LTPS In-Cell panels.

Solomon Systech has started mass production of its FWVGA TDDI SSD2061 since Nov 2015.  Widely adopted by top-tier smartphone customers, SSD2061 has achieved a shipment record of over 6 million units to date. Solomon Systech’s newly launched FHD TDDI SSD2091 has recently been qualified by a key smartphone brand and the mass production is expected to start in July 2016.

“The brilliant record achieved best proves the quality of our TDDI, and also our exceptional capability in product design and development, customer support and time-to-market. With TDDI becoming a key technology trend and the preferred choice for high-end smart devices, we shall best leverage this thriving market to push for further growth, in particular for our FHD TDDI.” said WM Lo, Vice President, Business Operations of Solomon Systech Limited.

Solomon Systech’s TDDI enable customers to produce thinner, lighter and sleeker smart devices with better touch and display performance, as well as longer battery life. Below are some of the key competitive features of Solomon Systech’s FHD TDDI SSD2091:

  1. Excellent Touch Performance With High Signal To Noise Ratio (SNR)
Solomon Systech’s TDDI integrates touch sensing and display driving schemes for optimal touch and display performance. It can achieve touch reporting rate of 120Hz and use different time intervals for processing display signal and touch sensing signal to significantly reduce the touch noise induced by display signal. Solomon Systech has also self-developed IP for panel parasitic reduction in order to achieve high SNR ratio (up to 52dB) and low power consumption for touch sensing.

  2. Ultra Low Power Consumption During Sleep Mode to Enable Longer Battery Life
The products enable low frequency scanning during sleep mode with display off, which helps detect gesture and log-on features with minimum power consumption. For example, a 5.5” display can detect gestures with power consumption of less than 2.6mW during sleep mode.

  3. Embedded Gestures to Enhance User Experience
14 configurable touch gestures have been defined and embedded in our TDDI solutions. For example, the gesture of writing the letter “W” on the smartphone can wake it up and enter into the web browser; while the gesture of writing the letter “M” can access to the main menu directly. End users can also define their own gesture menu by correlating different gestures to different functions. This user-friendly feature provides users with enhanced experience in operating smartphones.

  4. One-Stop Service To Facilitate Fast Time-to-Market
Solomon Systech’s strong application team provides quality services to customers, from panel module makers, IDH to smartphone manufacturers. We have developed our own evaluation and production platforms, enabling customers to optimize display and touch performance in one-stop, which greatly enhances design-in process and time-to-market.
